Three more positive cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Lafayette County as of 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 15.

According to a release from Lafayette County Health Department Director Tom Emmerson, that increases the overall total to 192. With 142 patients recovered and three deaths, there are 47 active cases in the county.

Emmerson says just over 10 percent of the county’s population has been tested.

Emmerson also says: “It is up to us all to take personal responsibility and protect each other. Please comply with the Mask Order and use your masks in public places. It is recommended that you do not invite gatherings of other people into your home, and to avoid gatherings in public places where social distancing and mask use are not practiced. If you have attended such gatherings either public or private, please monitor yourself for symptoms; and if sick, do not go out in public and call your healthcare provider for instructions. Also, remember you can carry the COVID-19 virus without knowing it and not get sick, but other people can get sick, and some die.”
