
The number of positive cases of COVID-19 continues to rise in several counties in the KMMO listening area.
According to health department officials, the largest increase was in Pettis County on Friday, August 14. The county’s overall count jumped by 32 from 567 to 599. With 457 positive patients recovered and four deaths, there are 137 active cases, including four hospitalized.
Seven new positive cases were confirmed in Saline County, raising its overall total to 471. With 394 positive patients recovered- including three on Friday- and seven deaths, there are 70 active cases, including two persons hospitalized.
Cooper County’s overall total of positive cases grew by seven, as well, making its overall total 171. With 119 recoveries and two deaths, there are 50 active cases. The number of cases through community transmission is 161 and 10 are travel related. There are 54 cases through congregate living (and they are included in the total case numbers and community transmission). Fifty-seven positives are inmates and employees and three are in nursing homes or assisted-living facilities.
Three new positive cases were confirmed in Lafayette County, increasing its overall total to 189. With 142 positive cases recovered and three deaths, there are 44 active cases.
Updates were not available from Chariton, Carroll and Howard Counties.
