
A 49-year-old Kansas City man has been charged with a felony for allegedly being the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash and left the scene on Monday, August 10, on I-70 in Saline County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred near the 76.8 mile marker. The suspect vehicle was found abandoned on the westbound ramp to exit 71. The trooper located a passenger who had sustained a serious injury to her right arm during the crash.
A Saline County deputy observed the driver of the suspect vehicle to be picked up by a silver Dodge 1500 near the scene. The trooper located the Dodge 1500 and initiated a traffic stop. A passenger in the Dodge, Anthony Raynald Tyhurst was arrested.
Tyhurst has been charged with a class C Felony for Leaving the Scene of an Accident and two driving-related misdemeanors. He posted $7,500 surety bond on August 12.
Tyhurst was arraigned on August 12, and a counsel-status hearing in the matter has been scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, at Saline County Circuit Court.
