Two more people who were diagnosed positive with COVID-19 died in Saline County over the past week.

According to a release from Saline County Health Department Administrator Tara Brewer, six new positive cases of the virus were confirmed in the county over the weekend, however no new cases were added on Monday.

In all, the county has seen 477 positives since the beginning of the pandemic. With 410 recovered and nine deaths through Monday, there are 58 active cases of the virus in the county, including one person hospitalized.

Brewer said the health department had two pending deaths from last week. SCHD had to confirm with the state on how to classify them. She says both citizens were in their 70s with underlying health issues.

In Lafayette County, two new positive cases were confirmed on Monday, raising the county’s overall total to 194. With 142 positive patients recovered and three deaths, there are 49 active cases in the county.

According to Health Department Director Tom Emerson, to date, approximately 15 percent of the county’s population has been tested.

The Carroll County Health Department confirmed two new positive cases of the virus in the county on Monday. To date, there have been 90 confirmed cases, and these new cases are the only active ones in the county.

In Pettis County, the total number of positive cases is up to 627. With 460 positive patients released from observation and five deaths- an increase of one from the last report- there are 162 active cases, including four persons hospitalized.

The Howard County Public Health Department confirmed two new positive cases on Monday. With three positive patients being released from observation, bringing that overall total to 50, of the 65 total positive cases, 15 are active.

Seven new positive cases were reported in Cooper County on Monday. That brings the overall total to 178 in the county since the beginning of the pandemic. With 126 positive patients listed as recovered and two deaths, there are 50 active cases, including two persons hospitalized.

To date, 168 of the positive cases are through community transmission and 10 are travel related. Fifty-four cases are through congregate living (and they are included in the total case numbers and community transmission); 57 are inmates and employees; and three are at nursing homes or assisted-living centers.

An update was not made available from Chariton County on Monday. At last report, as of Sunday, August 16, 20 of the 22 positive patients had recovered.
