After careful consideration by the court Saline County Prosecutor, Tim Thompson has been released from custody.
Thompson was taken into custody Tuesday, August 18, 2020 after he failed show cause as to why he did not reimburse the court $50 in relation to a felony case that Thompson dismissed after the jury summons had been sent out.
According to an Order issued by Circuit Judge Dennis A. Rolf on Wednesday, August 19, the Court made the decision that it would not be beneficial to the county for Thompson to remain in custody. The Order goes on to say the Court took into consideration the cost versus the benefit to the county and Thompson will receive credit towards the fine incurred by the Court and that his time spent in custody satisfied the obligation.
The Order states the Court weighed the benefit of Thompson reimbursing the $50 against the needs of the county for him to be able to appear at upcoming dockets and a jury trial that is scheduled to begin Thursday, August 27.
Thompson was released from custody at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19.
