stop-human-trafficking

Combating human trafficking is an important mission of the Attorney General’s office. The Missouri Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday, that it is changing how human trafficking is reported in Missouri.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt says since he’s taken office, his office has worked tirelessly to improve the way that human trafficking is reported the state.

Calls made to the Missouri-specific hotline will redirect to the National Human Trafficking Hotline.

Utilizing the national hotline will allow for more coordination between local, state, and federal law enforcement across jurisdictions, which is crucial as most human trafficking cases cross multiple jurisdictions.

Attorney General Schmitt says a positive story has already been reported because of this new focus.

These types of stories wouldn’t be possible without tips being reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline and the important work of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, other law enforcement agencies, victim advocates, and members of the Missouri Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Task Force.

In order to help potential victims in the future, help is needed from the public in reporting instances of human trafficking. If you see something that seems off, say something. Your actions could potentially help victims across the state. You can report human trafficking in Missouri by calling 888-373-7888 or on line at humantraffickinghotline.org.
