A 37-year-old De Witt man is facing felony charges after a traffic stop in Carroll County on July 15.

According to a report from a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, he attempted to arrest Timothy Lee Sparks. But while attempting to handcuff the suspect, Sparks resisted arrest, providing a defensive resistance before breaking free and fleeing into a nearby wooded area. The trooper deployed his Taser two times with negative results, and Sparks was not located. Prior to him pulling away, Sparks was searched by the trooper who found a folded up $20 bill that contained methamphetamine.

A warrant has been issued and Sparks has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest; six misdemeanors and two infractions. Bond has been denied.

Sparks’ initial hearing is pending at Carroll County Circuit Court.
