After two straight days with no new positive cases of COVID-19, Saline County added 21 new cases on Wednesday, August 19.

According to Health Department Administrator Tara Brewer, 498 total positive cases of the virus have been confirmed in the county since the beginning of the pandemic. Six more people were released from observation Wednesday, bringing the total number of persons classified as “recovered’ to 418, and with nine deaths, there are 71 active cases.

According to other health-department officials, the number of positive cases increased in several other counties in the KMMO listening area, as well.

Eight more positive cases were added in Pettis County, increasing its overall total to 650. With 483 patients released from observation as recovered and four deaths, there are 154 active cases, including three persons hospitalized.

Five more positive cases were confirmed in Cooper County, bringing its overall total to 189. Combining 122 persons released from isolation with two deaths, there are 65 active cases, including two persons hospitalized. Eleven of the positive cases are travel related and 178 through community transmission. Fifty-four are congregate-living cases, which are included in the total case numbers and community transmission; 57 are inmates and employees; and three are at nursing homes or assisted-living facilities.

In Carroll County, the total increased by two to 92 since the beginning of the pandemic. However, only four positive cases are active.

The number of positive cases of COVID-19 increased by two in Lafayette County, increasing its total positive-case count to 196. With 142 positive patients recovered and three deaths, there are 51 active cases in the county.

One new positive case of the virus was confirmed in Chariton County. This makes the total of 23 COVID-19 cases. With 20 of the patients released from observation as recovered, three cases are active.

In Howard County, one new positive case was confirmed, increasing its overall total to 73. With 53 patients released from observation as recovered, there are 20 active cases in the county.
