An area law-enforcement agency is alerting residents it is in the midst of a campaign to get impaired drivers off the roadways.

The Marshall Police Department says it’s that time of year again when officers crack down on drunk driving through the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Campaign.

Authorities say drivers impaired by alcohol or other drugs pose a serious hazard to themselves, their passengers and everyone else along the roadways.

As part of the year-round public safety efforts, the MPD is joining law-enforcement agencies across Missouri during the campaign that began on August 21 and runs through Labor Day on September 7.

The department says this is not about stopping, citing or arresting motorists, but rather saving lives and preventing tragedies.

MPD is asking citizens to join the battle against drunk driving by never allowing anyone to drive while impaired.
