
Three of the seven counties in the KMMO listening area gave updates on the number of positive COVID-19 cases on Sunday, August 23.
According to health-department officials, in Howard County, two new positive cases were confirmed, increasing the county’s overall total to 83. With 65 positive patients released from observation as recovered- including six on Sunday- 18 cases are active, including two persons hospitalized.
One new positive case was confirmed in Chariton County, raising its total to 25 since the beginning of the pandemic. Since 21 positive patients have been released from observation as recovered, there are four active cases.
No new active cases of the virus were reported in Cooper County. With three positive cases confirmed on Saturday, August 22, the overall total is 204 since the start of the pandemic. With 157 positive patients released from observation as recovered and two deaths, there are 45 active cases, including two persons hospitalized. Eleven of the positive cases are travel related, and the rest are through community transmission. Sixty-nine cases are through congregate living and are included in the total case numbers and community transmission. Sixty-five positive cases are inmates and employees and three are in nursing homes or assisted-living centers.
Updates were not available from Saline, Carroll, Lafayette or Pettis Counties.
