The number of COVID-19-related deaths rose in one county, and the total number of positive cases increased in several counties in the KMMO listening area on Tuesday, August 25.

According to health-department officials, in Pettis County, two more deaths were reported, raising its total to eight since the beginning of the pandemic. Ten more positive cases were added, increasing that total to 715. With 585 positive patients released from observation as recovered and eight deaths, there are 122 active cases, including one person hospitalized.

Five new positive cases were added in Howard County. With 69 of the 93 total positive cases recovered, there are 24 active cases, including two persons hospitalized.

In Saline County, two new positive cases increases its total to 526. With 441 positive cases recovered- including five on Tuesday- and nine deaths, the total number of active cases dropped by three to 76, including two persons hospitalized.

Lafayette County’s total positive case count increased by two to 212. With 175 positive patients recovered and three deaths, there are 34 active cases in the county.

The Chariton County Health Center announced that one of the active cases of COVID-19 in the county was released from public-health isolation. That means with 22 patients recovered, only four of the 26 total positive cases are active.
