The Marshall School Board approved some items that were up for action and tabled others during its meeting on Tuesday, August 25.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, three of four special-education and federal program contracts proposed by Director of Special Services Grace Durham were approved.

The board gave its blessing to contracts with Great Circle, Fitzgibbon Hospital for physical-therapy services and the local compliance plan. However, the board tabled a decision on the salary schedule for speech/language pathologists.

In other news, the board approved a bid of $19,297 from George’s Heating & Cooling to replace the HVAC on the Industrial Arts building. It was one of three local bids received.

The board also approved a bid of $6,952.61 from Arrow Gates & Security to replace the gate at the MHS Athletic Complex that was damaged in an act of property damage on July 27. However, the board tabled a decision on replacing the football field’s sod and sprinkler system that also were damaged in the incident.

In addition, getting the green light was the list of eRate projects, including the eRate Category 1 Fiber Connectivity project. The total amount of savings to the district will be $517,761.50.
