A teenage driver had to be flown from the scene of a two-vehicle crash in Pettis County on Wednesday.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as 17-year-old Elizabeth Beard, of Sedalia, slowed for a stop sign at an intersection, attempted to cross the intersection, and pulled her westbound vehicle directly into the path of a northbound vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Tyler Cummings, of Knob Noster. Cummings’ vehicle struck Beard’s vehicle in the driver’s side.

While Cummings was not injured, Beard was transported by Life Flight Air Ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries.

The crash happened at 7:33 p.m. on Highway 127 at Route Y.
