The numbers of positive cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in the majority of counties- including one with a double-digit increase on Wednesday, August 26- in the KMMO listening area.

According to health-department officials, in Howard County, 24 positive cases were added, upping its overall total to 117. With 71 positive patients recovered, there are 46 active cases, including two persons hospitalized.

Pettis County health officials say the number of positive cases grew by eight to 723. With 592 positive patients released from observation as recovered and eight deaths, there are 123 active cases, including one hospitalized.

Lafayette County reported an increase of six new positive cases to 218. With three deaths and 182 positive patients recovered, there are 33 active cases in the county.

Five new positive cases were confirmed in Saline County, raising its total to 531. With 454 positive patients recovered- including 13 on Wednesday- and nine deaths, the active case count dropped to 68, including one person hospitalized.

Cooper County reported the addition of two new positive cases, increasing its total to 213. Since 182 positive patients have recovered and two positive patients have died, there are 29 active cases.

The Chariton County Health Center reported one new positive case in the county, making the total 27. With 22 positive patients recovered, five cases are active.

The most-recent report from Carroll County was on Tuesday, August 25, when the total number of positive cases remained at 93. With 91 positive patients recovered, there were two active cases at that time.
