
Positive COVID-19 cases increased in several counties in the KMMO listening area on Thursday, August 27.
According to health-department officials, the biggest jump was in Pettis County, where the total positive count increased by 10 from 723 to 733. With 599 positive patients released from observation as recovered and eight deaths, there are 126 active cases, including one person hospitalized.
Seven new positive cases were added in Howard County, raising its overall total to 124. With 74 positive patients being released from observation as recovered, there are 50 active cases, including two persons hospitalized.
Lafayette County saw a rise of six positive cases to 224. With 182 positive patients released from observation as recovered and three deaths, there are 39 active cases. About 17 percent of the county’s population has been tested for the virus, according to Lafayette County Health Department Administrator Tom Emmerson.
In Saline County, the positive case count grew by two to 533. With 454 positive patients released from observation as recovered and nine deaths, there are 70 active cases, including one person hospitalized.
A third death was confirmed by Cooper County health officials. There have been 213 total positive cases of the virus in the county. With the three deaths and 181 positive patients recovered, there are 29 active cases.
Updates were not available from Carroll and Chariton Counties.
