
A 21-year-old Sedalia resident has been ordered to serve jail time after pleading guilty in court.
According to a press release, Sedalia Police officers were advised that a subject with active warrants was in a vehicle in the area of West 3rd Street and South Quincy Avenue. Officers located the vehicle on West Main Street near South Limit Avenue. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to yield. A short vehicle pursuit ensued, but was terminated due to public safety concerns.
Shortly thereafter, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Westwood Avenue for a report of a disturbance. The caller stated that it appeared that a male subject was chasing a female into her apartment, and it appeared that the male had something in his hand.
Officers responded and located the suspect vehicle from the earlier pursuit. The location of David Dotson was discovered. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted the police officers in making entry into an apartment, and Dotson was arrested without further incident.
Dotson was charged with a misdemeanor for Resisting/Interfering With Arrest, Detention Or Stop and a misdemeanor for Identity Theft/Attempt Identity Theft – 1st Offense .
Dotson plead guilty to both charges during his arraignment on August 28, 2020 at Pettis County Circuit Court. The Court sentenced Dotson to 30-days in jail.
