The Higginsville Board of Aldermen considered approval of an addendum to the water purchase contract with the city of Mayview during its meeting on Tuesday, September 8.
City Administrator Jeanette Dobson says the rates for residential and commercial customers were increased at the previous meeting.
Aldermen approved the addendum.
Dobson said the increase will be 3-1/2 percent each year through the five years. This is the second year of the agreement. Dobson says: “At that time, we’ll probably do another rate study to see if we’re where we should be.”
In other news, Dobson said aldermen considered approval of a bill to authorize some construction at the airport.
Aldermen gave their approval for this step.
Aldermen also approved a bill repealing a section of the code of ordinances regarding the wearing of protective headgear while while operating and/or riding a motorcycle.
