More positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in several counties in the KMMO listening area on Thursday, September 10.

According to health-department officials in Cooper County, updated and clarified information shows 340 positive cases- which was 80 more than the 260 cases that were reported on Wednesday, September 9. That included four new cases on Thursday.

Officials say: “Our positive-case rate does not include repeat positive tests when individuals are tested more than once. An example would be when an employer requires a negative test for the employee to return; those repeat tests are not included.” They say 225 people with Cooper County residency and 115 inmates have tested positive.

With 262 positive patients recovered and three deaths, there are 75 active cases. Eleven positive cases are travel related and 329 are through community transmission. Fifteen positive cases are in nursing and/or assisted-living homes.

In Pettis County, 12 new positive cases were reported on Thursday, bringing the overall total to 849. With 10 deaths and 719 recoveries, there are 120 active cases, including three persons hospitalized.

Saline County reported eight new positive cases, increasing its total to 611. With 528 recoveries- including nine on Thursday- and nine deaths, there are 74 active cases.

Six new positive cases were confirmed in Lafayette County for a total of 283. With nine more recoveries, raising that total to 230 and three deaths, 50 active cases remain. Heath Department Director Tom Emmerson says about 17 percent of the county’s population has been tested.
