
UPDATED WITH FORMAL CHARGES AT 8 A.M. ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11
Two teenagers have been arrested relating to an incident on September 2 in Pettis County.
According to a press release from the Sedalia Police Department, at approximately 6:34 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 Block of South Limit Avenue in reference to a shooting that had just occurred. All subjects involved in the incident had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
Upon further investigation, officers learned there was a verbal confrontation in a nearby parking lot that led to the shooting. Two suspects were identified, and it was determined that they fired several shots that struck a vehicle containing four occupants. One of the bullets also struck a nearby residence. There were no injuries reported.
On Wednesday, September 9, the two suspects were arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where they were placed on a 24-hour hold.
On Thursday, September 10, warrants were issued for both suspects, and they currently remain in the Pettis County Jail with no bond.
Court documents say 19-year-old Evans Okine Weber and 18-year-old Deris R. Broussard have been charged in the incident. Each is charged with a three counts of a Class B Felony for Assault in the First Degree or Attempt. Broussard also has been charged with three counts and Weber with two counts of an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. In addition, Broussard is facing two counts of a Class B Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
An initial hearing for each defendant is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
