The number of positive cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in area communities but not at a rapid rate.

The Saline County Health Department confirmed there was another death related to COVID-19 in Saline County over the weekend bringing the total to ten deaths related to the virus. As of Friday, there have been 28 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Saline County. With 567 of 647 case counted as recovered, there are 70 active cases and four people remain hospitalized.

Chariton County reported one new case of the virus on Tuesday bringing the total to 65. With ten cases still active, there are 55 that have been deemed recovered.

In Lafayette County, seven new cases were confirmed. To date, there have been a total of 360 positive cases, 244 recovered, 112 are still active, one person remains hospitalized and there have been four COVID-19 related deaths.

Johnson County saw the largest increase in numbers since last reported on Friday. Since Friday there have been 67 new cases reported by the Health Department. There are currently 952 positive cases in Johnson County, 563 have been released from observation, 386 remain active and there have been a total of three COVID-19 related deaths.

Pettis County reported seven new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total number of positive cases up to 891. As of Tuesday, there are 126 active cases, 755 recovered, two people remain hospitalized and there have been a total of nine deaths related to the virus.

As of 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Carroll County had a total of 109 cases reported, Howard County has a total of 235 positive cases and Cooper County had reported a total of 353 case. Each of these counties did not have an update Tuesday afternoon.
