
Another COVID-19-related death was reported in an area county on Wednesday, September 16.
According to Pettis County Health Department officials, this increases the county’s total to 11 since the beginning of the pandemic. The total positive-case count is up to 904- an increase of 13 on Wednesday from Tuesday, September 15. With 762 positive patients recovered and 11 deaths, there are 131 active cases, including three persons hospitalized.
In Howard County, 15 new positive cases were reported, raising the county’s total to 250. With one death and 184 recoveries- including 10 on Wednesday- there are 65 active cases, including one person hospitalized.
Cooper County’s positive-case total increased by nine to 373. With 279 positive patients recovered and three deaths, there are 91 active cases. The total number of positive cases who are Cooper County residents is 256, with the other 117 being inmates. Eleven positive cases are travel related and 362 are through community transmission. Nineteen positive cases are in nursing and/or assisted-living homes.
Four new positive cases were confirmed in Saline County, upping its total to 651. With 10 deaths and 576 positive patients recovered, there are 65 active cases, including four persons hospitalized.
Lafayette County reported three new positive cases, increasing its total to 363. Due to four deaths and 254 positive patients recovered, there are 105 active cases. Health Department Director Tom Emmerson says 20 percent of the county has been tested.
Three new positive cases were reported in Chariton County for 68 total. Two positive patients were released from public health isolation as recovered, increasing that total to 57, leaving 11 active cases.
