A fake $100 bill allegedly was used to make a purchase at an area restaurant on Saturday, September 26.
A report from the Marshall Police Department says an employee at Taco Bell advised authorities a young African American woman ordered two items through the drive-thru. The employee said the woman attempted to pay with a $100 bill. The employee said she used a counterfeit identifier pen, which alerted her the bill was counterfeit.
The employee advised she did not give any change, and the food was given to the customer at no charge. The employee identified the license-plate number, and the vehicle was tracked to a residence on South Redman Avenue. The employee advised shortly after the incident another person requested to get the bill back. The employee refused to give it back and contacted authorities.
Authorities seized the bill as evidence.
The investigation continues.
