The track and football field at Marshall High School were a topic of discussion at the Marshall School Board meeting on Tuesday. Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher says discussions on fixing the track started when the district started to look at the lease purchase that was entered into to build the Spainhower building. She says previously the lease purchase that the district looked into for renovations and repair, there was $250,000 set aside for repair of the track. Dr. Maher says the district has since learned that the track is going to have to be replaced and the cost will be much more expensive than what the district has set aside.

Dr. Maher says the purpose of the Booster Club and their involvement will be to turf the football field so that it is a safe and open learning enviroment for many people, not just football.

Dr. Maher says plans have been in the works to repair the track for the last few years. She says the reason the district has not worked on the field was due to the fact that they did not see how they could repair the track and then have equipment on the new track while putting new turf on the football field. Since then, the district has been advised that the football field can be re-turfed without damaging the new track.
