A Stover man had to be flown from the scene of a traffic crash in Pettis County on Monday.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as a southbound vehicle, driven by 41-year-old Matthew Young, traveled off the west side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Young, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown by Life Flight helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries.

The crash happened at 11:44 a.m. on Route M, just north of Route V.
