
The Winter Weather Advisory that was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday that was expected to expire at 1 a.m. Tuesday has been extended.
The advisory is now in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
The National Weather Service is calling for periods of accumulating snow and freezing temperatures. Periods of light to moderate snow, with an additional one-half to one inch of snow expected. Total snow amounts from the event will average 1 to 2 inches, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. A light glaze of ice from periods of freezing drizzle is also possible this evening into tonight.
Drivers are urged to plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and/or evening commutes.
A hard freeze is expected, with low temperatures tonight into tomorrow morning falling into the upper teens in northwest Missouri to near 30 in central Missouri.
The advisory is in effect for 37 counties in Missouri, including Saline, Carroll, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Lafayette and Pettis Counties.
