Ken was born August 22, 1933 in Sedalia to Harry B. and Emma E. (Grinstead) Satterwhite.
Ken was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Walter Strickert at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sedalia, on May 13, 1953. He married Elvera Ella Kroenke on September 5, 1954 also at St. Paul’s. After graduating from Smith Cotton High School he served honorably in the United States Air Force. During his time in the military Ken served on the crew of a B-36 Peacemaker and would often speak of his time on board and the years he served. He was a veteran of the Korean War and proud to have attended an Honor Flight to Washington DC with his fellow veterans.
Ken adored his wife and enjoyed being a father to his children. He was proud of his family and dedicated himself to being a strong and loving example for them to look up to and to taking care of them to his best ability. He made an effort to teach his children how to do just about everything there is to maintaining a home, taking care of a property, and his daughter’s favorite, how to drive a tractor. He liked fishing, especially when he could land a whopper! Country life was good for him and his family cherishes having been given the opportunity to have lived that life with him. He loved his country home and delighted in working around the property with his son Scott, mowing and doing other chores to maintain a park atmosphere. He always enjoyed listening to his son Mark play the guitar whenever the family was gathered. He also looked forward to men’s Bible study at St. Paul’s Lutheran.
Along with his wife and other members of St. Paul’s Lutheran, he was a co-founder of Iglesia Luterana Amigos de Cristo in 1997. He continued to work with his wife in the church as well as in the Sedalia Hispanic community helping wherever he could until his death. He was a grandfather figure and “Padrino” to many Latino children and youth.
