
Donald R. “Don” Bonar, age 70, of rural Sweet Springs, died Monday, November 2, 2020, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, at the funeral home. Burial, with military rites, will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs.

Born November 26, 1949, in Slater, MO, he was the son of the late Forest Bonar and Clara Mae Ellis Bonar. He lived in Saline County his entire life, was a 1967 graduate of Slater High School and served with the United States Army in Vietnam. On August 8, 1971, he married Connie Trautmann who survives of the home. Don previously worked for MFA and was a farmer. He was currently working to reestablish the Sweet Springs Senior Center and was active with the Sweet Springs Food Pantry serving on the board.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; six children, Carl Bonar (Julie) of rural Concordia, Cherie Magruder (David) of Odessa, MO, Catherine Hall (William) of rural Sweet Springs, Colleen Wilson of Odessa, Craig Bonar (Jaime) of Kansas City, MO and Christian Bonar of rural Sweet Springs; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Forest “Pete” Bonar (Brenda) of Lathrop, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ramona Chamberlin.
