An area county reported a triple-digit spike in positive COVID-19 cases since the last report it supplied last week.

According to the Cooper County Public Health Center, the total number of positive cases jumped from 697 on Wednesday, October 28, to 826 on Wednesday, November 4, since the beginning of the pandemic. The new number breaks down as 681 Cooper County residents and 145 corrections inmates. With 681 positive patients released from public health isolation as recovered and two deaths, there are 143 active cases, including two positive patients hospitalized.

In Pettis County, the total number of positive cases has grown to 2,081. With 28 deaths and 1,388 positive patients recovered, there are 665 active cases, including 20 persons hospitalized.

Sixteen more positive cases were reported over the past couple of days in Howard County, raising its total to 499. With 458 positive patients recovered and one death, there are 40 active cases.

In Chariton County, nine new positive cases were confirmed, increasing its total to 160. Due to 102 positive patients recovered, there are 58 active cases.

Carroll County updated numbers on Tuesday, November 3. The positive case count was up 20 from Friday, October 30, to 291. With 240 positive patients recovered and eight deaths, there are 43 active cases, including four hospitalizations.

Updates were not available from Saline and Lafayette Counties.
