
A Fayette man will spend nearly four decades after pleading guilty to murder of a Poplar Bluff man in December of last year.
Alfredo Demario Hicks Jr. was charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the First Degree; Class D Felonies for Tampering with a Witness in a Felony Prosecution and Receiving Stolen Property; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action in connection with the shooting death of 29-year-old John L. Turner, of Poplar Bluff, who was found deceased inside his vehicle from a gunshot wound at approximately 1:30 p.m. on December 30, 2019.
Hicks entered a guilty plea to all charges during a hearing in August. On October 7, the court sentenced a total of 35-years in jail for his part in the murder of Turner. On the felony charge of Murder in the First Degree, Hicks was sentenced to 20 years in Missouri Department of Corrections. For the Unclassified Felony of Armed Criminal Action, Hicks received 15 years in Missouri Department of Corrections, with these sentences to run consecutively. Hicks was sentenced to seven years in jail for the charges of Tampering with a Witness in a Felony Prosecution and Receiving Stolen Property. This sentence is to run concurrent to all other sentences.
