Triple-digit increases in positive COVID-19 cases were reported in two area counties, as well as one more COVID-19-related death in the area, on Monday, November 9.

According to health-department officials, in Pettis County, the total rose from 2,268 on Friday, November 6, to 2,424 on Monday. With 1,540 positive patients released from public health isolation as recovered and 28 deaths, there are 856 active cases, including 23 positive patients hospitalized.

The Saline County Health Department was closed last week due to an exposure and subsequent positive test for the virus. Administrator Tara Brewer updated numbers on Monday from Friday, October 30, which included another death.

The death raises that total to 15 in the county since the beginning of the pandemic. The total positive case count grew by 132 to 1,238. With 1,038 recoveries and 15 deaths, there are 185 active cases.

In Lafayette County, 50 new positive cases were confirmed over the weekend and on Monday. That raises the total to 1,084 positive cases of COVID-19 in the county since the beginning of the pandemic. A more complete report will be given by health-department officials on Friday, November 13.

Twenty-nine new positive cases were reported in Chariton County over the weekend and on Monday. The new positive case count is 246. With 128 positive patients released from public isolation as recovered, there are 118 active cases.

Updates were not available from Carroll, Cooper and Howard Counties.
