The Pettis County Health Center has issued a plea to the county’s citizens regarding COVID-19.

Health-department officials say, “We ask for your patience as we are trying our best to deal with the flood of new cases. We are receiving an average of 60 new cases a day, with some days over 100. Each case takes at least 30 minutes to investigate. Our staff has been reduced significantly this week as we also deal with illness.”

The message continues, “We understand everyone wants to know when they can return to regular activities. We are returning messages as quickly as possible. Leaving a detailed message helps us know what is needed. We will continue with limited public operations this week.”

Health-department officials urge residents to stay home if they are told they are positive. They say, “Staff is working seven days a week to try to get to everyone. Please follow the guidelines to protect your community and slow the spread of the virus.”
