A federal prisoner from Kansas City and his cell mate have been charged with felonies relating to an incident at the Lafayette County Jail on August 4.

According to a probable-cause statement, 35-year-old Mirza Alihodzic is alleged to have been in possession of a piece of county issued gray tote that was filed down into a sharp point on one end, measuring approximately 7-3/5 inches long, wrapped with medical tape on one hand and a string of elastic wrapped around the sharpened piece of tote concealed in a sock. The item was found in the tote of Alihodzic.

Alihodzic and also is accused of causing damage to the jail cell by pulling the sink out of the wall and damaging the ventilation system.

Court documents say a Criminal Summons has been issued and Alihodzic has been charged with a Class B Felony for Possession of a Weapon at a County Jail and a Class E Felony for Damage to a Jail. Also charged with a Class E Felony for Damage to a Jail is 35-year-old Guadalupe Alvarado, of Warrensburg.

Alvarado’s initial appearance is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, while Alihodzic’s initial appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
