guilty-plea

Two Maryland men plead guilty in Saline County to a drug-related felony for being in possession of a large amount of marijuana and lots of cash following a traffic stop on I-70 earlier this year.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol report says during a search of the vehicle on June 5, a trooper located two large duffel bags containing vacuum-sealed bundles of marijuana weighing approximately 105 pounds. One of the occupants of the vehicle possessed over $3,200 and the other more than $1,500. Per request of the Saline County prosecuting attorney, the money was seized.

Nigel Thomas, of Gaithersburg, and Robert Sproles, of Upper Marlboro, were charged with a Class C Felony for Trafficking Drugs in the Second Degree.

Both defendants entered a guilty plea on Monday, November 9. The court sentenced both men to ten years in the Department of Corrections with their sentences suspended and both were placed on five years probation.
