An area school has called off classes for three days this week.

A release from the Sacred Heart School in Sedalia Administration says based on the additional COVID-19 positive test results received since school was adjourned on Friday, November 20, the administration has decided that it is in the best interest of the health and welfare of Sacred Heart students, families and faculty to cancel classes for this week- November 23-25.

Sacred Heart Administrators asked for an emergency meeting of the School Advisory Council at 5 p.m. Sunday. At this meeting, a recommendation was made by the School Advisory Council, based on the data given by the administration, to cancel school. The Sacred Heart Administration accepted this recommendation from the advisory council.

This decision came based on the rise of positive COVID-19 cases over the past 12 hours.

Administrators say, “We have evaluated the current situation based on new information we received today. In the data… our percentages of positive cases tied to school exposure has multiplied by three, indicating a significant increased risk to our students and staff. It is our sincere hope that by taking these precautions, classes will resume as normal on Monday, November 30.”
