With the number of positive COVID-19 cases continuing to spike all across the area, region, state and country, health officials are discouraging get-togethers this holiday season.

According to Lafayette County Health Department officials, traditional Thanksgiving gatherings with family and friends are fun but can increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu.

They say the safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year is to celebrate with people in your household.

So, if you do plan to spend Thanksgiving with people outside your household, you are urged to take steps to make your celebration safer.
