A Lees Summit man was seriously injured after he struck another vehicle head on, on I-70 on Friday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred when the eastbound vehicle driven by 29-year-old Kasie Leonard, of Columbia, was struck head on by the westbound vehicle driven by 30-year-old Larry Hibner of Lees Summit. Both vehicles were deemed a total loss.

Hibner was transported by Life Flight to Truman Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Leonard sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Odessa EMS to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence for treatment.

The crash occurred just after 8 a.m. on eastbound I-70 at the 38 mile marker in Lafayette County.
