Two area residents charged with the murder of a teenager in an area county earlier this year are due in court next month.

Evan Lanigan, age 25, of Warrensburg, and 28-year-old Christian Harrison, of Knob Noster, are charged with the murder of 18-year-old Maliyah Lakey, of Warrensburg, on August 1.

The Warrensburg Police Department says officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of Grover to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered three shooting victims. Lakey was dead at the scene. A 20-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were transported to an area hospital for treatment of what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries from gunshots.

Lanigan is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Armed Criminal Action, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree.

Harrison is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (a convicted felon in possession of a firearm). Each is being held without bond.

A preliminary hearing for Harrison is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8, and Lanigan at 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
