A 28-year-old Sedalia woman is facing multiple felony charges after she allegedly left her 3-year-old son alone in a residence for an extended period of time about six months ago.

According to a Sedalia Police report, a maintenance worker went to the residence to repair a door on May 20. The child was in the residence unattended. He thought an adult would arrive to look after the child, so after completing the job, he left. The maintenance man returned the next day, and the child was still there alone. The repair man called the residence’s landlord, who took the child to the police department.

An investigation led authorities to find out the child’s mother is Tamalon Lynn Wallace. During further investigation, and after a friend of Wallace reported her missing, they discovered Wallace had been in jail in Kansas. But she was released from custody on May 21.

The child is now in the custody of the child’s foster parents, who had custody of him for 2-1/2 years prior to Wallace getting him back by order of the Children’s Division.

During her interview on November 19, Wallace told authorities she was on a medication that caused her to lose track of time.

Wallace is charged with a Class B Felony for Abandonment of a Child; and Class D Felonies for Endangering the Welfare of Child in the First Degree and Abuse or Neglect of a Child- No Sexual Contact. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety.

Wallace was arraigned on November 23. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled to be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
