A 27-year-old Oak Grove resident has been charged with a felony for allegedly burglarizing Higginsville Cemetery shed thanks to a CODIS-DNA hit.

According to a probable-cause statement, authorities were notified of the incident that was not in progress on November 17.

Missing items included a 60-gallon air compressor and an outdoor central-air unit. Several items were damaged during the incident, including a steel commercial utility door. Fuel also was siphoned out of vehicles and equipment. In all, the city of Higginsville was out $4,480 as a result of the incident.

The officer collected and submitted swabs for possible trace evidence to the Missouri State Highway Patrol laboratory for analysis. A response from the lab indicated the swab collected from the ends of a siphoning hose, which was brought to the scene by the suspect, provided a CODIS-DNA match for Bradley Lee Landis.

Court documents say Landis is charged with a Class D Felony for Burglary in the Second Degree. Bond has been set at $10,000 Cash or surety.

Landis’ initial appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
