A 31-year-old Columbia man is facing a couple of felony charges in Cooper County.

According to a Boonville Police report, officers responded to the 500 block of Fourth Street for the report of a male who had pulled a gun.

The man who called authorities said he made contact with Patrick Ian Hart- an employee of his- at his pickup. The man said he advised Hart he was sending him home for the weekend due to having some problems. The man said Hart started digging in the back seat of his truck, so he started backing away from Hart’s truck. The man said Hart pulled a shotgun from the back seat and put it between his legs. The man said he became scared and ran to his truck to call 9-1-1. Hart got in his truck and drove away.

Hart, who has been convicted of several felonies in the past, is charged with a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and a Class C Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting. Hart posted $10,000 surety bond on November 23.

Hart’s initial hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
