Students in an area school district will remain distance learning for the time being.

According to a release from Marshall Public Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher, as the numbers of the community spread of COVID-19 represent a level that keeps the district in Phase 4 of the Returning to Learning Plan, it is the determination of the MPS administration to remain in distance learning for the remainder of this week. She says this decision was made after communication with the Saline County Health Department and Fitzgibbon Hospital personnel.

Dr. Maher also says, “The Returning To Learning committee will meet Thursday afternoon. The decision about returning to school will be announced after the meeting; and the Board of Education has been notified of our intentions. We are all working with the welfare and benefit of our students in mind first and foremost. Our community deserves our careful consideration; so if there is an error to be made, I want it to be made by being overly careful and cautious.”
