The Saline County Commission met briefly on Thursday, December 3. The Commission approved payroll and the County payment schedule. Also during the meeting, Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. made a special announcement.

Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner and Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden presented a number of service awards.

In other news, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden announced that MMU has received the first round of funding from the USDA to begin the broadband project in the county.

Saline County Collector Cindi Sims was at the Saline County Commission meeting on Thursday, December 3 and she advised the Commission that her office has collected $1.3 million dollars more this year than last year.

Sims says it’s great that people are paying their taxes early. She reminds residents there are a couple of ways to pay your taxes in Saline County.

Payments can also be dropped off at the drop box on the east side of the courthouse or mailed. If you mail your payment, it must be postmarked by December 31.
