A double-digit increase of positive COVID-19 cases was reported in one area county over the weekend.

According to health-department officials, in Saline County, 27 new positive cases were confirmed, raising the county’s total to 1,871 since the beginning of the pandemic. With 1,705 positive patients released from public health isolation as recovered – including 12 over the same time frame – and 33 deaths, the active case count has increased to 133, including 10 positive patients hospitalized.

Four new positive cases of COVID-19 were added in Chariton County on Sunday increasing the county’s total to 505. Due to seven COVID-19-related deaths and 380 recoveries, there are 118 active cases in the county.

Updates were not available from Carroll, Cooper, Howard, Lafayette and Pettis Counties.
