A 30-year-old Sedalia man has been placed on probation after he plead guilty to stealing a vehicle in June, 2020.
According to a Sedalia Police report, on June 17, an officer conducted a vehicle check in the parking lot of Motel 6 on West Broadway Boulevard. The officer received confirmation from dispatch that the tan-colored Nissan Pathfinder was reported as stolen.
The officer approached and arrested a man that had exited the vehicle and was walking around. Another officer told the arresting officer the keys were not inside the vehicle, but she located them lying in some gravel about 10 feet behind the vehicle, which was consistent with being thrown by Christopher Demus as he was walking around the vehicle.
On December 7, 2020 Demus plead guilty to a Class D Felony for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree.
The Court suspended Demus’s execution of sentence and placed him on 5-years probation and he was ordered to 30-days shock treatment.
