A Missouri Valley College graduate and Marshall resident finished tied for fifth in the sixth round of the bareback riding event at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo taking place this week in Arlington, Texas.

According to Prorodeo.com, three-time world champion Tim O’Connell scored an 85.5 on “Blessed Assurance” on Tuesday night. The round was won by Cole Reiner with an 87 on “Lil Red Hawk”. Kaycee Feild was second with an 86.5 on “Colorado Bulldog”.

Feild has taken the lead in the overall average at the NFR with 513.5 in six rounds, a half-point ahead of O’Connell. Richmond Champion, Tuesday’s leader, is now third, a half-point back of O’Connell. Champion won Round 1 , Feild Round 3 and O’Connell Round 4.

Round 7 is tonight. O’Connell, a Zwingle, Iowa, native, is scheduled to ride “Network Gazer.”

O’Connell’s lead in the 2020 overall money standings was reduced from more than $32,000 after Monday’s results to a little less than $20,000 over Feild after Tuesday night’s results.

The final round of the NFR is Saturday night.
