Several more COVID-19-related deaths were reported in area counties on Tuesday, December 8.

According to health-department officials, in Pettis County, three more deaths were reported, raising its total to 37 since the beginning of the pandemic. Another 96 positive cases were added, increasing the county’s total to 3,658. With 2,718 positive patients released from public health isolation as recovered and 37 deaths, there are 903 active cases, including 22 positive patients hospitalized.

One more COVID-19-related death was reported in Saline County, raising its total to 34. The death was of a 68-year-old female. There were seven new positive cases confirmed, raising the county’s total to 1,887. With 1,724 recoveries- including 14 on Tuesday – the active case count decreased to 129.

One more COVID-19-related death was confirmed in Chariton County, upping its total to eight. Four new positive cases were added, increasing the county’s total to 515. With six more recoveries, raising that total to 390, and eight deaths, there are 117 active cases.

In Carroll County, the total positive case count rose from 609 on Friday to 644 on Tuesday. Due to 567 recoveries and 13 deaths, there are 64 active cases in the county.

On Monday, December 7, 21 new positive cases were added in Howard County. That raised the county’s total to 820. With three deaths and 760 recoveries, there were 57 active cases, including 10 positive patients hospitalized.

Updates were not available from Cooper and Lafayette Counties.
