A 38-year-old Holden man had to be flown from the scene of an accident involving a tractor in Johnson County on Monday.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred as Aaron Guengerich was standing next to a Ford tractor performing maintenance. He started the tractor and released the clutch, not knowing the tractor was in gear. The tractor struck Guengerich before coming to rest in a pond.

Guengerich was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment of serious injuries.

The accident happened at 4:34 p.m. in the 1100 block of Northwest 600th Road.
