Phyllis Jean Monroe, age 74, of Spring Hill, KS, passed away peacefully at her home of December 13, 2020 surrounded by her family and beloved pets.

Visitation for Phyllis will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bill Peckman officiating. Burial will follow in SS Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Phyllis Jean Monroe was born July 23, 1946 in Boonville, Missouri, the daughter of Eugene and Catherine (Wiemholt) Whitehurse. Phyllis was united in marriage to Gary A. Monroe for 50 years. Phyllis worked as a nurse for 34 years in the Kansas City, Kansas area. She will be lovingly missed by her family and all that knew her.

Survivors include her 101 year old strong mother, Catherine Whitehurse of Boonville, Missouri, siblings Linda (Virgil) Brengarth of Wooldridge, MO, Gayle Whitehurse of Olathe, Kansas, Gary Wayne (Connie) Whitehurse of Boonville, Missouri, Patty (Dean) Clayton of Boonville, Missouri, Teresa (Pete) Rhoades of Boonville, Missouri, Anita (Mike) Flippin of Varsailles, Missouri, husband Gary Monroe of Spring Hill, Kansas, her daughter Kate (Steve Plasnik) Monroe of Independence, Missouri, nieces and nephews Jason, Jenny, Nathan, Shelly, Mike Jr., Shannon, Sarah, Samantha, Jacob, and Michelle. Her family through her marriage to Gary included Joni, Dave, Mallory, Brett, Sam, Erin, and Suzanne, her dear friend Stella and cycling girls that she went on many adventures with Kathy A., Kathy C., Diane, Jane, Claudia and Verlinda and her loyal canine Billie. In addition, Phyllis was preceded in death by her father Eugene Whitehurse and her brothers Mark Allen, Eugene, and Benny.
