
Two area residents charged with the murder of a teenager earlier this year and are being held without bond are scheduled to have court proceedings scheduled to be held on Wednesday, December 16.
Evan Lanigan, age 25, of Warrensburg, and 28-year-old Christian Harrison, of Knob Noster, are charged with the murder of 18-year-old Maliyah Lakey, of Warrensburg, on August 1.
The Warrensburg Police Department says officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of Grover where they discovered three shooting victims, including Lakey, who was dead at the scene. A 20-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were transported to an area hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.
Lanigan is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Armed Criminal Action, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree. Harrison is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (a convicted felon in possession of a firearm).
A case review for Harrison and a trial-setting hearing for Lanigan are scheduled to be held at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson County Circuit Court.
