The Marshall School Board took care of an issue that has been talked about for a few meetings.

According to minutes from the meeting on Tuesday, December 15, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Terry Lorenz requested the board approve a bid of $74,123 from MidAmerica Sports to repair the sod on Cecil Naylor Field on the high school’s campus. The sod cost will be covered by the district’s insurance.

Dr. Lorenz also presented a cost of $26,500 for the irrigation system for the field. That will not be covered by insurance.

The board approved both requests.

Dr. Lorenz also presented options for work on the track, which will be discussed more at a future meeting.

Dr. Lorenz also said the playground is complete at the Spainhower Primary School.

In other news, the board unanimously approved Hollis Makings to represent the district for the MSBA Belcher Scholarship.
